Free Smoke Detectors for Pittsylvania County Residents

Does your home have a smoke detector? If you do not have a smoke detector you are putting yourself and your family at risk. Smoke detectors are critical to early response to escaping house fires safely.  With winter coming and the use of heating appliances now it’s more important than ever to make sure you and your family can stay safe over the winter. 

If you rent your home, please contact your landlord to supply your home with one, it is required by law that a rented home must come with a smoke detector. 

If you own your home or rent properties that need working smoke detectors, please consider this program run by Pittsylvania County Public Safety and the Fire Marshal’s Office and in partnership with the American Red Cross.
